Living in Phuket

Boasting picturesque tropical beaches and luscious inland scenery, as well as vibrant towns and quiet seaside villages, the beautiful island of Phuket, also known as the Pearl of the Andaman, attracts over 5 million visitors each year.

Since Phuket is the largest island in Thailand, it does offer more diversity than some of the smaller islands in the country. Known for its vibrant nightlife and bustling seaside towns, its still possible to find picturesque empty beaches far removed from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

Where to stay in Phuket
The northeast is home to much of the islands nautical activities. Here the Yacht Haven Ao Por Bay, Ao Por Grand Marina, the Royal Phuket Marina and Boat Lagoon attract sailors wishing to moor yachts, catamarans and speedboats. The NE also offers spectacular views of the neighboring Phang Nga Bay and surrounding islands.

Toward the southeast of the island is the vibrant Phuket Town. Busy by day, and relaxed by night, the beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture and traditional Thai-Chinese temples give the small city a unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the island.

Along the south coast is the stunning Cape Panwa, the pleasant Chalong Bay, and the attractive beach of Rawai. These beaches are popular destinations for holidaymakers, but rarely get overcrowded.

The busiest parts of the island are the beaches that make up the southwest coast. Here the waters are perfect for swimming during the high season from November until April and great for surfers during the low season from May until October note that during these months the waters do become dangerous for casual swimmers.

Patong is known for its busy beach, bustling streets and wild nightlife. To the south of Patong the beaches of Karon and Kata offer a more family friendly atmosphere and to the north, the beaches of Kalim, Kamala, Bang Tao and Surin are home to many luxury developments and upmarket bars and restaurants.

Along the northwest coast of Phuket the beaches of Nai Thorn, Nai Yang and Mai Khao beach. Flanked by the Sirinat National Park and the island last true virgin rain forests, this area still retains its traditional feel, and remains largely undeveloped compared with the rest of the island.

Accommodation in Phuket
Phuket is home to some of the very best hotels and resorts in the world. All international hoteliers own properties on the island and there are many more privately owned establishments that offer equally high standard of accommodation and service.

Along with the countless hotel rooms in Phuket, the island is also home to many luxury villas, holiday homes, town houses, condominiums and apartments that can be rented by the day, week, month or even year. These residences are often the best choice for couples, families, and groups of travellers, or for those seeking more permanent lodgings.

A few years ago finding and booking private rentals in Phuket without being there in person was rather difficult, however with the rise of the Internet there are now several great websites that specialize in offering villas and apartments for rent in all area of the island.

Websites such as LivePhuket solely focus on listing the best private rentals that represent the best value for money, so whether youre seeking affordable rooms, or luxury million dollar mansions, youll be sure to find what youre looking for at Livephuket.
